Chapter 190, BURNING, OUTDOOR

		ARTICLE I, Purpose and Definitions

		§ 190-1. Purpose of chapter.

		It is the purpose of this chapter to prescribe regulations consistent with state and nationally recognized standards for the safeguarding of life, health and property from the hazards of fire and explosion arising from the kindling of outdoor fires and the outdoor storage of combustible materials.

		§ 190-2. Definitions.

		The following definitions shall apply to all parts of this chapter (words italicized in this chapter are defined in this section):

		BURNING INDEX -- A weather forecast based on a scale calibrated to reflect the risk of forest fire and broadcast by the State Forest Fire Warden.

		COMBUSTIBLE MATERIAL -- Any substance which is inflammable, readily ignitable or free burning, such as but not limited to paper, rubbish, wood, grass and leaves.

		CONFORMING INCINERATOR -- Any of the following: a metal drum of adequate capacity, masonry incinerator, or steel or cast iron receptacle; with solid or perforated sides, fronts and backs, used to burn any type of combustible material, which meets the specifications of § 190-3 of this chapter.

		GRILL or OUTDOOR FIREPLACE -- Any metal or masonry structure used for the sole purpose of cooking outdoors.

		OUTDOOR FIRE -- Any fire in the open air, or outside the confines of a building for the purpose of disposing of any combustible material.
